This policy explains what happens to your data when you use VERTES. It is written to be read, not to protect us — if anything here is unclear, email contact@vertes.co.uk and we will explain it.

Your videos never reach us. VERTES runs entirely on your own computer. Your footage, its audio, the transcription, the moment-picking and the rendering all happen on your machine and are never uploaded to us or to any server we control.
We hold no account for you inside the app. There is no VERTES login, no telemetry, no usage tracking and no analytics of any kind in the software. This website is a separate matter and is covered in section 4 below.
The only personal data we actually hold is an email address, and only if you gave us one.
Everything below is local. It stays on your disk unless you choose to upload something to your own channel:
You can delete any of it at any time by deleting the files in your VERTES folder.
VERTES makes network connections only for the things below. Nothing else leaves your machine.
Your own YouTube channel — only if you set it up. You create your own Google Cloud project and your own OAuth credentials, and VERTES uses those. The sign-in token is stored on your computer (token.json) and is never transmitted to us — we have no technical way to read it. Uploads, scheduling and the analytics figures shown in the app travel directly between your computer and Google under your own credentials. Google's handling of that data is covered by Google's Privacy Policy.
Licence activation — Lemon Squeezy. When you activate your licence key, VERTES sends the key and a per-machine identifier (your Windows MachineGuid) to Lemon Squeezy so activations can be counted against your device limit. Lemon Squeezy is the merchant of record for the sale — they are the seller, they process the payment, and they hold the billing data. See Lemon Squeezy's privacy policy.
Update check — vertes.co.uk. On launch VERTES requests a small version file from our site. It sends no information about you; it is an ordinary web request, so our host sees the usual connection data (such as your IP address) as any website would.
Optional: Claude (Anthropic). Only if you choose the Claude engine and paste your own API key. In that case, excerpts of your video's transcript are sent to Anthropic to pick moments and write titles. If you use the default local engine, nothing is sent. See Anthropic's privacy policy.
Downloads: Ollama, Hugging Face, UB Mannheim. Used only to download the AI engine, speech models, or the optional text-recognition tool. These are plain downloads — no data about you or your videos is included.

We use these only to reply to you, to deliver and support your licence, and — if you asked to be told when VERTES opens — to send you that one announcement. We do not sell or share them, and we do not send marketing you did not ask for.
We keep interest-form emails until you ask us to remove them or until the launch they were for has passed. Support emails and purchase records are kept as long as needed for support, warranty and accounting duties.
The vertes.co.uk website uses Google Analytics 4 so we can see how many people visit, which page they landed on, and which platform sent them. That last part is the only reason it is here: it is how we tell whether a social post actually brought anyone.
It is configured in cookieless mode. Google Analytics normally stores an identifier on your device; here that storage is switched off, so no analytics cookies are set, nothing is kept on your device, and there is nothing for you to accept or refuse — which is why this site has no cookie banner. Your IP address is truncated before it is stored.
What that means in practice: we can see that a visit arrived from, say, TikTok and read the pricing page. We cannot recognise you if you come back tomorrow, and we cannot build a profile of you. Google processes this data as our processor under Google's Privacy Policy.
Payment pages are hosted by Lemon Squeezy, our Merchant of Record, under their own privacy policy. We never see your card details.
Under UK GDPR you can ask us to: give you a copy of what we hold about you, correct it, delete it, restrict or object to how we use it, or provide it in a portable form. Email contact@vertes.co.uk and we will act within one month.
If you think we have handled your data badly you can complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk). We would rather you told us first so we can fix it.
token.json (your YouTube sign-in), the output folder (your shorts), and the settings and agent files.VERTES is not intended for children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their data.
If this policy changes we will update the date at the top and publish the new version at vertes.co.uk/privacy.html. Material changes will be mentioned in the app's changelog.
